It’s Summer, almost… the first hot days are here. Yes, there is still June to come, 4th of July certainly will bring rain in the Pacific Northwest, but people in Olympia are already dreaming of cooling off in one of our local water spots. [more]
One our favorite ways to enjoy a sunny Sunday morning is to go exploring at McLane Creek off Delphi, SW of Olympia. The beavers have been busy out there and have expanded their damns and channels–amazing bit of architecture. Our kids were thrilled to watch the newts lazing in the water, box turtles sunning on logs and red wing blackbirds perching in the trees then darting among the lilly pads. I highly recommend this brief, but scenic trail for the whole family. [more]
Since we moved to Olympia two years ago, we’ve been eager to get out and explore some of the local beaches. Seems like life has kept us too busy to do much exploring. Yesterday we decided to remedy the situation. After a long, cold, snowy winter, we were ready to see what’s out there, so on a whim we piled the kids in the van and went exploring. [more]
