Quattrocelli3Thanks to Dan Weiss, I was lucky enough to get a ticket to ‘Dinner & Music’ on Sunday to see the German cellists, Quattrocelli play! Water Street Cafe treated us to a fancy four course dinner, and the band entertained us in between. Quattrocelli is a group of musicians who are far more than their bow ties let on. Their stage presence, their antics; I was anxious to see what they were going to do next. They played theme songs from movies like ‘The Godfather’ and ‘Mission Impossible’, and classic tunes like their Gershwin medley. Thank you to the band for making us laugh and relax. You are unique and admired! [more]

P1050433Inside Vintage is moving to another location, somewhere on Capital Way (probably Sweet Life spot?) sometime in May. They don’t have any dates set yet, but if you drive by and see the For Lease sign, don’t worry! They’re only moving! [more]

P1050583There’s a new donut shop in Olympia, and its unlike any donut shop I’ve ever seen… it’s actually interesting, colorful, and fun inside and they have a ton of things to choose from, including ‘combo meals’. Check out the dry-erase board in the second photo. Hawaiian hot dogs? Definitely worth checking out, I’d say…. Twister Donuts is located at 2302 Martin Way, (where 4th/State turn into Martin/Pacific.) [more]

Cop OutNot since 2007’s “Hot Fuzz” has there been a mainstream Buddy Cop movie to my recollection.  That’s why when I saw a trailer for the recent movie “Cop Out” I was excited.  I grew up in the golden era of Buddy Cop movies where it seemed every year there was a new law enforcement comedy duo ready to hit the streets. P1050380The Blue Heron Candle Company is no more! I’m not positive, but I think it moved out about 10 days ago… I don’t know if they moved somewhere else or just closed up completely, so if anyone has more information on this please let us know. Goodbye Blue Heron. Click here for a link to their blog.

P1050381The City Hall construction has been moving along nicely. I forgot to look at it for awhile as it just becomes part of the scenery, but after a month of not really taking notice, it looks quite different! I have a snapshot from the street and from a rooftop… and the first real (on 4th ave) with the East Bay construction zone has happened- the beginning of a new street! Went up to a third floor window to get a better view. Hope you enjoy them! [more]

P1050459The Survive the Darkness event, a fundraiser held in support of Haiti at The Loft Saturday night, was a blast! The bands that played, and the people that showed up to listen and contribute to this cause, were all so different…(refreshing!).  Around 110 people came, raising about $1200 for Haiti. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this cause, to einmaleins for sponsoring the event, and THANK YOU Tyler Fleetwood for dreaming this up and making it happen! Thank you to Nikki McClure for donating her beautiful artwork, and to all the musicians who donated their time. Click more to see pictures from the event. I got a shot of every band that played, though they are kind of dark… [more]

Quattrocelli in OlympiaQuattrocelli, an amazing cello quartet from Germany, is coming to the Water Street Cafe on March 7th to dazzle Olympia with their musical talents. ‘Dinner and Music’ is an Inspiration Institute event brought to you by einmaleins. There are still a few tickets left for this ‘cabaret style’ four-course dinner, so stop into einmaleins if you’re interested! [more]

ad_surviveWhat moves us to help others? Why is it sometimes easier to turn our backs when people need so desperately for us to care? For some of us, we may never have had the opportunity to help, or have simply not known how. This is why Tyler Fleetwood and Mathias Eichler proposed “Survive the Darkness,” a fundraiser in support of Haiti, and an invitation to our community to act. [more]

DSC00468Just walked by the formerly “Audio Northwest” store front next to Bayside Quilting across from Old School Pizza on Franklin St. and read on the posted sign that come March 1st we will have a new garden supply store in downtown. Garden Gnome might be the name, if I remember correctly. Inside it still looks pretty bare, but the first shelves are being put up and some deliveries arrived already. [more]

I posted this on facebook already, but so many people responded that I chose to make it available here as well:
