Chuck, I was in your shop a week or so ago and overheard you say to a customer that "all coffee is organic because no one wanted to lug fertilizers up a mountainside." I have been meaning to respond to this but wanted to actually refer you to a good article. Coffee production is in fact heavily dependent on pesticides and chemicals. Buying organic, shade-grown DOES make a difference. Check out this article, its pretty good: http://www.coffeehabitat.com/2006/12/pesticides_used_2.html
  • Growing "organically" and using pesticides are two different though related topics. My reference was to the use of inorganic fertalizers to grow coffee. Your reference article is to the use of pesticides to battle insects. My roaster focuses upon Free Trade and Shade grown coffees and employees the Swiss Water method to decaffeinate.
  • ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION
Due to some logistical considerations we had to temporally suspend our donuts. HOWEVER, we have resolved those considerations and are happy to again offer our HOT FRESH MINI DONUTS.
Donuts are fresh and hot between 8:00AM and 4:00PM. After 4:00 though still fresh we will have limited quanties :( Come in and enjoy a dozen today.
    . 25 cents each or a dozen for $3.00.
  • Sorry for the delay in responding. Interestingly enough the C&D relates to no one. It is simply what I chose to use as a name. Unromantic huh?
  • What does C&D mean? I hope there are some photos inside the store so that we can view if it has a good ambiance.
  • C&D is just what I chose to call the business. Please come on in and visit us you will find a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Our FaceBook page has more pictures. But nothing will be as warm as a visit. Hope to see you soon.
  • I'm assuming the C stands for Charles, but then who is D?
  • Hey Star,
As unromantic as it is the C or D doesn't relate to anyone. When I first got started way-back-when and asked what I wanted to call my business I froze and couldn't think. I saw something in the license office with the letters C&D and chose them along with the discription Gourmet Coffee.
  • Hot espresso and Fresh Hot Donuts comfort a rainy day.
  • Hello Olympia,
We here at C&D Gourmet Coffee Company are happy to introduce to our customers Fresh Hot Mini Donuts. We are now offering fresh mini donuts cooked to order. Stop by and ask for a sample I am sure you will be pleased.

  • Thank you to everyone who braved the weather Friday night - "First Friday" and stopped in our store. It was wonderful to meet new folks and welcome in old friends.

Thank you Olympia for welcoming us into our new store. These are challenging times and because of you folks we are growing. It has been great sharing and contrasting our vision for Olympia with the many diverse ideas and hopes for our wonderful city and those of us who call it home.

  • Living in Ohio will make it next to impossable to enjoy my espresso. I am located in Olympia, Washington. There must be a coffee with a simular name as mine. I am an espresso cafe not supplier.
