As predicted, we are very happy to be home. Even if it is a mess, it’s our very own muddy mess. We pledged to remain “on vacation” until the boys go back to school on Monday, meaning lots of sleeping in and no great expectations of projects or planning. It can wait a few days. Our second day back found us vacationing by washing and delivering potatoes, and then farmer Colin just wanted to go out and play with his compost pile.
We were pleased to see that six of our special twelve fall CSA share members made it out to the farm to pick up while we were away, but six of you did not yet get your grand finale shares. If you want your last share, it’s still in the cooler. I could even be persuaded to deliver it to you at this point, as I am basically on vacation and can use the delivery as an excuse to go out for coffee or visit a friend. Seriously, the onions, garlic, carrots, and potatoes are in fine shape just waiting to come to your kitchens.
We will continue to supply both the East and West side Olympia Food Coop stores with our German Butterball Potatoes and shallots for the next few months. And you can still buy a garlic braid from the West Side Coop or downtown at einmaleins. We are so grateful to both stores for helping us sell our last load of the season when the weather fouled up our market plans.
