This has been overdue, but I first had to settle down and collect my thoughts and listen to a few people to gather myself and give everyone an update.
First off, a big thanks to all and everyone that came out in support, emailed me, facebooked me, stopped by the store and showed me how strong of a community we are.
Yes, sometimes we need those unpleasent wake-up calls to realize that we can be strong in numbers.
It’s been tremendous to feel respected, loved and cared for, thank you all.
A special thanks to Officer Evers (sp?), who found the smashed window, tried to contact me and took the initiative to get the Fire Department down to the store, to get things boarded up. Thank you, thank you.
So, what has happened in the last couple of days:
I’ve contacted the PBIA and ODA and Joan Machlis from the City Council and am very excited to report that we’re planning on finding a solution. The next ODA Safetly Committee Meeting will be on December 11th at 8am at Cicada Restaurant. Please stop by and share your experience, your thoughts and ideas.
Matt Batcheldor at the Olympian contacted me and wrote the story up here. And King5 contacted me and wants to swing by later today.
We will solve that problem, we will find the root cause of the carelessness that leads to vandalism and will address the lethargy that some in the downtown community have expressed.
No, our hands are not tied, this is not just the cost of doing business and ‘no’ just throwing money at the problem will not solve it either.
Yes, we can! Oups, I hope that wasn’t a copyrighted phrase!
Now, go out and enjoy the Holidays! Downtown is having it’s great Kick-off event today. There is so much going on, come downtown, support your downtown and your local businesses.
Check our event calendar for more information.
