Alright, what happened last week? A Brief update on the Adopt-an-Alley project:
The city is very supportive of this idea, but won’t be able to fund it – big surpise!
We need to get a few organizations committed on adopting an alley bwhen we get ready to launch.
One big point I (Mathias) raised was the importance of not just the concern for the distant future of Olympia but that we need to find a way of promoting downtown Olympia today. There are a lot of efforts to promote downtown, but not many people work together or are very effective.
Downtown needs a cohesive voice and a “constant supporter”.
Everyday Olympia wants to fill that need.
We heard about the efforts of the DNA (Downtown Neighborhood Association) and their current focus on restructering and potenially applying for grants for parks and other work they focus on.
So, a long meeting with lots of discussion, if you missed it. You better show up next time ;-)
PS: The Brotherhood is a good place to hear about what’s going on in Downtown Olympia!
