This Labor Day weekend is Slow Food Nation in San Francisco.
Our beloved and local Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. will be down there (I’m so jealous!!)
Slow Food started as a movement in Italy, combating the growing influx, of you guessed it: Fast Food. In the Italian truffle and wine country “humble” Italians made the choice to reject the fast-paced, eating-on-go lifestyle and choose to enjoy food instead.Honoring the “human food-chain” from production to prepartion, you start to enter a different life. Food tastes better, life slows down. You connect with people, the growers, the handlers, the cooks. You become grateful for the goodness in your life and on your table. And connect with the people around your table, you build relationships, learn people’s stories and become a neighbor.
Yesterday was my birthday and the best present I could’ve asked for was a baked bread by my wife for breakfast and home-made dinner with roasted potatoes like my Dad used to make. Beats the restaurant any day by miles and makes me truly connect with my family and enjoy a special moment in my life.
My son help make the cake for Sunday.
