Update on Downtown Tax District
Mathias (on behalf of Peter): Taxing District appears to have the support of each member of the city council.  A resolution/motion on the September 9, 2008 meeting will confirm that after which the city lobbyist will begin work with the state legislature. Once this is approved we can start lobbying the community to support this.

Great Neighborhoods Book/Author
We’re exploring a potential collaboration with Everyday Olympia, Washingtion State Historical Society, einmaleins and …. YOU?? to bring Jay Walljasper, author of The Great Neigborhood Book to town.

Adopt an Alley
Rob: presented the rules and guidelines based on a similar progam from Wilmington, N.C. Read more here.

Discussion of other groups not present that may have an interest in adopting an alley
      I.E.: Scout groups; companies, agencies, public interest groups;

Discussion of potential pitfalls and objections; most public and quasi-public feedback has been extremely positive.

Signage
      Would there be entities will to donate signage or would that need to be publicly funded?

Program administration
       Perhaps an Evergreen intern or work study student; could be under Everyday Olympia if an umbrella organization is necessary.

Charrette

Kris: Olympia 20/20 Vision watched “Back from the Brink” about Urban revitalization.
Youtube Video of Ex-Governers wanting the isthmus to be Open Park.

Discussion of charrette and importance of mass collaboration and participation; if done thusly, it will be difficult to ignore.

Meetings are every Thursday at Noon at the MIXX 96 conference room on Washington St.

Everyone welcome!
